Starbucks Protein Latte Trio
☕ Start Your Day with Protein
Starting September 29th, Starbucks cafés in the U.S. and Canada are rolling out two new protein-forward offerings: Protein Cold Foam and Protein Lattes. This is part of its “Back to Starbucks” drive to modernize the menu with innovative drinks that meet growing consumer trends.
Protein cold foam
A creamy, frothy topping now boosted with protein. Adds ~15g of protein per grande to any cold beverage (coffee, tea, or Refreshers). It is offered in a wide lineup of flavors: banana (new), vanilla, sugar free vanilla, chocolate, matcha, salted caramel, brown sugar, plus seasonal options like pumpkin and pecan, or you can go for the plain version.
Protein lattes
These rich drinks are crafted with protein boosted milk, a blend of 2% dairy milk and unflavored protein powder. Each grande delivers 27-36g of protein, more than double that of a standard latte. Baristas create the protein infused milk fresh daily, and you can also swap it into other milk-based drinks like Iced Shaken Espressos and Coconut Milk Refreshers for an extra 12-16g of protein per grande.
Proven Success
Consumer hunger for protein is not slowing down. For the 5th straight year, protein is the nutrient most Americans are intentionally trying to consume, and 70% say it is a priority. Starbucks says these innovations come from its Starting 5 development program, which tests new ideas in five stores, gathers feedback, and then rolls successful ones nationwide. Protein Cold Foam and Lattes are the first “breakthrough” products to graduate from that incubation process.
Why you should care
Most people struggle to consistently hit their protein targets, especially at breakfast. Coffee is already a daily ritual for millions, and now Starbucks has turned that habit into an easy way to front-load protein early in the day. Instead of scrambling for a shake or snack later, you can start your morning with 15-36g of protein. That helps muscle repair and recovery, keeps you fuller for longer, and sets a more stable foundation for hitting your daily total. By embedding protein into something you already drink every morning, Starbucks makes it easier to kickstart your protein intake and build momentum for the rest of the day.
